Services
Modern-day cruises specialize in offering nearly any service or amenity that you could want, often for an extra charge. A novice cruiser, or even a veteran, might be unclear as to what is included and what is not. As you might expect, spa services are extra, from hair and beauty salons, massages, manicures, waxing services, and makeup applications. While we recommend that you consult your individual cruise line, here are some services that are frequently offered for an additional charge:Both full-service and self-service laundry facilities are generally available. Business services, such as faxes, copies, meeting facilities, and AV equipment, must generally be booked prior to departure. The Internet is available; for phone use, ship-to-shore calling rates apply.
Onboard photographers generally take random and posed shots throughout the cruise, and then are displayed for purchase at the end of the cruise. Onboard weddings may be available if booked in advance, and require an additional fee, depending on the level of service required.
Today some cruise lines offer the option for friends or family to give a bon voyage gift to departing guests. You can go online and purchase a gift to be delivered to their stateroom upon departure, including photography gift certificates, a floral arrangement, bar coupons, or stateroom decorations. You can purchase a special occasion package for birthdays, anniversaries, and more.
Included in your cruise fee should be shore excursion assistance. The cruise line should have a desk available where you can get questions answered and help making reservations for the upcoming shore excursions. Your cruise ship will also have health facilities if you require medical assistance. Guest Services will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about onboard facilities, including whether any services require an additional fee. Also, be aware that most cruise ships do charge extra for alcohol, unless an all-inclusive package is purchase.
